I'm not really that up to speed on much of the EU, and after searching around "Wookieepedia" and "Star Wars.com", I'm still left with a nagging question...
Is the Millenium Falcon officially the fastest starship in the Star Wars universe, or is there something faster?
"Reality is a nice place to visit... but I wouldn't want to live there."
Well I think it just made a certain trip faster than all the others that made the Kessel run. I don't think its the "fastest" ship in the galaxy. Just maybe the "fastest hunk of junk."

I agree with Si Titran, I think it's just that noone has ever challenged it and won.

Ditto, sounds like it's one of the fastest ships in its class but more than that hasn't really been elaborated.
Those Naboo ships look like they should go really fast, they're very streamlined (not that it really matters in space :P )

I agree aswell, with Mel. :)
Those Naboo fighters look very fast indeed. :D
You're foolish words can never hurt me
Dash Rendar's ship, "Outrider" held a hyperdrive rating of 0.75 with the use of a modified SoroSuub Griffyn/Y2TG hyperdrive system.
The Millenium Falcon held a hyperdrive rating of 0.5 with the use of a modified Isu-Sim SSP05 Hyperdrive generator.
The articles I've read don't really state that the Outrider is faster, but 0.75 sounds faster than 0.5, and both ships were rated with Hyperdrive Backup Class 10. The Outrider had a Megalight rating of 70 MGLT, while the Falcon rated 80 MGLT. The Outrider had a maximum airspeed of 1,000 km/h (which isn't much faster than Anakin's podracer), and the Falcon reached 1,050 km/h... although, I assume hyperdrive speed is what we're ultimately looking at.
Personally, I never really cared for Dash or the Outrider... they seemed too much like a Solo and Falcon rip-off in my humble opinion, so I don't really know anything about the Outrider except what I've recently read in Wookieepedia and the Star Wars Databank.
Is 0.75 faster than 0.5 ?

Nope, easy mistake though
The smaller the number, the faster it is. Weird system, I know; not sure why it's like that
Strange thing about the Falcon is that it's so fast in lightspeed, but is slow *though manuverable* in real space. I mean, come on, they couldn't even outrun lumbering StarDestroyers!

April 20, 2008 5:11 pm (Edited April 20, 2008 05:13 pm) # 0.5 is faster than 0.75, because 0.5 is closer to 1. Its not really confusing.

.......no.... 0.5 is closer to 0 making it faster, I'm pretty sure 3/4 is closer to one then 2/4...

I didnt say 0.5 is closer to 1 than 0, I said 0.5 is closer to 1, than 0.75

And you are still 100% wrong. .75 is closer to 1 than .5
Let me break it down for you
counting upward by .25 you get... 0 < .25 < .5 < .75 < 1
See how .75 is closer to 1? 3/4 is more than 2/4. Learn math plz.
And .5 is faster than .75 i believe because it refers to a time to distance ratio. Less time to go the same distance.

As much as I would love to tell you where to shove your corrections, I'm not going to. Instead I thank you for taking the time to correct me. Now I wont make that mistake twice.

Actually... you already made the mistake twice... you should be watching out for the third mistake...

Hey! Hey! Hey! Let's keep it cool... this isn't STUDY HALL, ya know!
So the Falcon (at 0.5) is faster than the Outrider (at 0.75). I take it that's the general concensus?

February 9, 2017 1:38 am # My understanding is this, dash is faster in lightspeed.
Han has the record for fastest Kessel run. The reason why is explained in one of the eu books, it says that his course put him dangerously close to the Maw which is a cluster of black holes grouped together by the Killiks a group of hive mind beetle like creatures. His time was faster because his route from a to b was pulled in closer to the Maw then any other pilot in the galaxy. He almost killed himself and Chewie doing it but made his delivery for Jabba in record time.
Its why Jabba held him in such high regard that he didnt kill him after Han capped Greedo in the cantina and Solo confronted him about the hit man. Jabba dismissed the attempted killing by Greedo saying that wasnt the job and Greedo knew it, so he wasnt sorry for the loss of Greedo.
I dont believe this story as written for a novel accounts for time dilation being that close to black holes though.
Not sure if I helped or just add more fuel to the fire of this argument. For what its worth I felt like Dash wasnt so much a rip off of Han so much as he was supposed to be someone who reminded Leia of Han in many ways. From his cavalier attitude to his unkempt appearance (Han was scruffy looking) to his boasting of his fast ship.
February 9, 2017 10:18 pm # Most ppl don't realize that Han DID NOT ACTUALLY make the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs, but he was LYING (only thing he does well). He ACTUALLY made the Run in 14!!! NOT 12!!! That look that Old Ben gave him when he said 12 was his "You're lying, I know it and you know it so quit filling Luke's head with osik" look. I found that in the book retelling of A New Hope. BTW, the Slave I has some nasty upgrades that make it VERY fast. I'm not sure if it's faster than the Falcon but I wouldn't be surprised. And for the record, just so no one is confused, .75 is closer to 1 than .5. It goes: 0, .25, .5, .75, and 1. lol
