In Episode III, during the opening fight sequence, I noticed one of Odd Ball's Clone Fighter Pilots( "They're all over me! Get them off my...") had the Mandalorian Insignia painted on the side of his helmet, right before his ARC-170 is destroyed by a Droid tri-fighter. The "leaf design" is the same as Fett's, with the "F" and the "Blood Drop" appearing to be yellow, I think.

What's the story on that? Are there other instances of the Clones adorning their armor with Mandalorian markings?

Don't know about the symbols on the fighter pilot's helmet, but the Mandos training Clones and the DeahHead on the armor makes it all too clear to me...........

THEY HAVE MY FANFIC IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I brought that up one time on here many moons ago, and even on the Wookieepedia site, too.  I even emailed the Star Wars Insider Trivia page people about it (twice), but have yet to actually get an answer about why they had the symbol on their helmets.

Here's the Clone Trooper he's talking about, by the way (still pic from the movie).

What's funny, is that the still they have for the Clone Trooper pilots on the Star Wars website are of the same side shot, just with a different symbol.

Lucas Film has never stated anywhere what the actual symbol means, so far.  A shame, really.  The symbol is also found on the side of Jaster Mereel's old ship, that Jango if flying, at the beginning of the Bounty Hunter video game (although not identical).

The only other instance of Clones using Mandalorian insignia's is what is mentioned above, and the use of the Mandalorian "Jaig" eyes on the helmets of some of the clone troopers, such as the Captain Rex and Captain Fordo.

Why are they different symbols, Sadriel?  :O :)

I'm guessing that the Clone pilot as seen on the Star Wars.com website is an ALMOST finished rendering, then Lucas, some senior Producer or a senior Animator decided to give the clones another link to Fett by adding the Fett clan marking to the helmet in a "blink and you'll miss it" moment at the last minute of post production.

Thanks for the info, Sadriel.

I wasn't even aware of the whole "Jaig Eyes" mythos until just now. Pretty cool history behind their use with the Mandalorians as well as the Clones... it actually helps explain a lot about the Clone Troopers reverence towards Mando'a culture and the markings they paint onto their armor.

See? This is what I'm talking about in this topic: http://www.bobafett.com/boards/viewtopic.php?id=2350 Lucas can throw in stuff that messes with the canon for fun, but we have to make something up for it just to make it work. He thinks it's his movie and he can do whatever he wants with it (and he can) but there is a massive fanbase depending on him making things work, and the movies are the foundation of this.
