This isn't Episode II. Just in the last few months, Lucas announced a feature-length CG film coming to theaters this August 2008 called "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."

cool, but why no voice actors from the films? it'd make the most sense, unless they're just using the same punks from the old CW.
March 15, 2008 10:52 pm # This was actually a whole article in my local paper and made for a fun read this saturday morning with my coffee. While I wish they were using the real actors voices. Its harder and more expensive to get them to do the project I can imagine. Some voice actors I think do good work. Its hard to say with out seeing (and hearing in this case).
*I know I must have said this somewhere but the girl apprentice annoys me to no end. Espescially since she's a Torguta (same species as Shaak Ti) and all the images I've seen so far only have her with 2 lekku and Torguta have 3 (2 in front and 1 in the back).

OMG. I am so sorry, everyone. :( This is truly a day of great sadness. I had only assumed that SW in general would be destroyed. I had no idea that the attack would be on Boba as well. Course we should have seen this coming. In order to completely ruin something, you have to cover all the major points, which would include Boba. I say, let's all watch ESB then give Boba a moment of silence...

Masterchief, this new film, "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," is 1) animated and 2) includes Boba Fett.

Star Wars:clone Wars is animated?! I do not know whether to be excited or disappointed. I was looking forward to a film with Boba Fett in it one hand but wouldn't want any dumbing down on Boba on the other.
A man's worst enemy can't wish on him what he can think up himself. Yiddish saying
I'm thinking that it would be in similar style to the Clone War shorts that they had on cartoon network. I thought the animation was quite good in that. At least they can have next gen game console quality right? Nothing crappy looking like the Smurfs or somthing. (This is not talking smack about the Smurfs... I just don't think the animation was all that good.) Now I've noticed a lot of reasonable and enjoyable animation. As long as it doesn't change the feeling of Star Wars and make it fee/look like say Futurama, which is very different.
(Too bad the sketches/ stills I've seen so far aren't like Bleech or Cowboy Bebop :( Now that I think would be worth trying.)

It is okay, but I was a bit disapointed. It was still good animation though :) 8/10

*covers head with hands, and collapses to the floor in agony*
The animation had better be good then, if it's going to be CG....why Lucas has forsaken the original way of filming real actors in costume rather than computer constructs, I will never know....If they mess up Fett with this, so help me, I.....will be unable to do anything meaningful. But still, the sentiment remains. They had better not botch this...
Due to maintenance problems, the light at the end of the tunnel will not be in operation today. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
The clones voices seemed to need work. The are some good things about it, and somethings I don't like about it. I too have no idea why Lucas would choose to go to animation over live action is beyond me. The Clone Wars interesting, but why choose that now? Plus I hope the music isn't just compiled John Williams from the REAL films. I might settle for non Williams score, as long as its as good as Jermey Soule's. This is where A LOT of fans could be alienated.
Meat is murder...... tasty tasty murder.

the animation is funny looking. if anyone goes to the star wars lego sites, theyre doing lego sets from the clone wars show, and even the faces got changed around and stuff.
TO ALL WHO SAY THIS NEW FILM WILL SUCK:
1.It is some of the best animation around and Lucas is sparing no expense.
2.The action looks great (did you not see the falling AT-TE?) and to be honest the action is the best part of the movies, don't even try and say that the plot was amazing, it was good yes but nothing to make you go "wow" now when you see a light saber battle on a moving tower in lava...."wow".
3.even if it still sucks it will be a step up from EPs I,VI. (I love EPII so it's not up there.)
I'm not saying it's the next ESB but I don't think it will be the doom of all we know and love.

1. That's a matter of personal taste. You could spend millions of dollars on something and still some wouldn't like it. Take for example Paris's Hilton's face.
2. The action does look pretty cool. And for the plot it wasn't good in the first place but why screw it up even more by throwing in an apprentice for Anakin Skywalker?
3. I thought Episode 1 was pretty good. Episode 6 I can't say I was too fussy about but again this one comes down to personal opinion.

I love TPM, it's in my top four out of all the movies.
The animation may be expensive, but if it looks as awful as that they might wanna, you know, start being cheap or something cause there were some pretty wonderful cartoons that looked great. Far better than this.
And, yes, the plot is just stupid.
And I am just glad it's not live action, cause if it was it would 100% be the doom of us all. I can only thank God that it's only some cruddy animated thing.

Bare in mind that this animation is designed to fill in more of the story from the Clone Wars shorts, and as such Lucas decided to keep to the look of the shorts but make it better. The style is strange I'll grant you, but I hardly think it'll be the death-knell of Star Wars. At the moment we don't know the story, where Lucas intends for it to go, how it ties together with the films or the reasons for such things as Anakin's Padawan. All will become clear in due course. Things that look strange, wierd or stupid now may suddenly become the most logical, intelligent and brilliantly thought out idea, concept or character ONCE we know the story. As to the faces of characters, the reshaped look of helmets etc. it's simply a stylised version meant to compliment and expand upon the shorts not replace them. The animation with the Clone Wars shorts was unusual (to say the least), and one or two of the episodes not well written or simply unbelievable (Mace Windu fighting the droid army AND the "floaty-stomper-thing-of-doom") but it doesn't make watching them totally unbearable or mean that people approach me when I'm out trooping in armour and tell me "how much the Clone Wars shorts animation ruined Star Wars for them!". Yes the CG animation in this new Clone Wars is different, not what we have come to expect from CGI films such as Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within or The New Captain Scarlet but is that really so bad?
As to the story, who knows? This could be the best thing Lucas has written since ANH. The story is what you make of it, I may like it whilst "Bob" just down the road thinks it's worse then Starship Troopers 2! (an impressive feat of writting if it is!) You can't please everyone all of the time as the saying goes. I know people that hated the whole "removal of the mystery behind the mask" of Boba in Ep II, I mean really HATE it, yet I've always enjoyed Ep II and knowing the origins of my favourite Star Wars character. We know where he comes from now, when back before Ep II was released he was the faceless hunter that stood up to Vader. I'm looking forward to the live action TV show due for release '09/'10 which Boba will be in too. Boba's appearance in the Clone Wars animation will simply go some way to explaining what happened between Episode II and his return to the screen in the live action show (yes I have read the Young Boba Fett books). And remember folks Lucas HAD intended for Boba to be in Episode III shooting Mace (I have the storyboard of him doing it) until someone pointed out he'd be a little too young to do it, so I hardly think Lucas is going to ruin Boba in this animation.
Until the animation is released none of us can say if it'll be good or bad, awful acting or great voice casting, contradictory to established Star Wars canon or expertly filling in the gaps. And yes, there will always be some that like it and others that hate it, just like there are those that would rather the Prequels were never made. Let's give it a chance and see, we MAY just be pleasantly surprised.

Ugh......Starship Troopers 2......never say that again....*shudders*
I think it would have been better as a cartoon, just the way that the animation is, it makes Yoda look like he has some weird kind of growths on his face. I don't think they did a good job with the animations, I had trouble getting used to the Clone Wars T.V. series animation, but I like it now, the CGI version is close, but it just doesn't look as good. in my oppinion

Yes I saw that too and was like "so what if he'd was 13-ish he's a warrior who's had a hard life of growing up on his own for the last three years!"
Miba, the animation is not supposed to look like the "real" thing. What Lucas and the animators are trying to get across the "feel" of the characters. Also Anikin IS a jedi knight and seeing that he's a amazingly talented jedi why wouldn't the console assign him a student? If you ask me it makes sence.

two things, i would like to see the storyboard if you have a scanner. i have never even heard of that.
the other, the problem w/ anakin having an apprentice is just the fact that it is crammed into an already established story.
"mmmm, pistol whip." -Homer Simpson
Personally i think the look of series isn't too bad, my problem is with the "Anakin apprentice" thing. In no way, shape or form does it fit into the story, GL is gonna have to do a heck of a job to get me convinced that Anakin should have an apprentice.
I mean c'mon this is the guy they wouldn't give the title of "master" to even when he was put on the council. he's too rash & impulsive ( and reckless can't forget that :D ) for an apprentice, it doesn't work :(
Thats my opinion :)

i see what you guys r getting at, and for the record i think the animation looks tight-im anticipating the movie/show.
but the problem w/ the anakin thing is its sloppy story telling.
anakin is
1. fighting the clone war
2. under the watchful training of obi1
3. spending quality time w/ padmae
4. cozying up to palpatine
all very well documented, and then they mince in a apprentice. this dude is the multitasker from hades.
ibut having said all that, i do think it will be good, i mean they cant mess it up w/ too much greenscreen or shoddy acting.

March 24, 2008 12:26 pm # it also sorta leads up to The Force Unleashed, showing once again that he felt the need of an apprentice.

1. So the "feel" of Anakin is that he's supposed to have a neck that's too long to actually support his head, and that he has weird shoulders and chest and spikyish hair that's unlike his hair from the movies?
2. Which console? I mean, if a gaming system can assign students, I want one! Or did you mean council? If so, then I don't think they would have assigned him one because they were already iffy about him. I don't think they would have risked giving him an apprentice.

Er, so how old is Boba during "The Clone Wars" again? Like 15-16? So we can assume that by this age he's doing free lance bounty hunting?
At least he'll have his helmet on so we don't have to see how they'd butcher his face... >_>
No, during the Clone Wars he's 11 and 12. Cause he's ten in AOTC and turns 11 a month or so afterwards.
