actually im kinda getting that at the moment, i have a crush on a friend of mine, she is actually kinda normal, (i'm pretty sure i could get her to join the fighting 501st with me) and lucky for me she is having trouble with her boyfriend, but wont break up with him until she has a sure thing of someone who wants to date her... i just dont really want to swoop in and take advantage of the situation

It's nice to see a guy who doesn't want to take advantage of a girl like that, most guys I know would have, although she does sound a bit off, not wanting to break up with the guy until she knows she can just switch to another guy.  Anyhow, I think I'm gonna give the whole BF situation a break, considering the guy that I was interested in, just asked my close friend out :(  Oh well, glad to see that there are other happy couples/marriages here on the BFFC :)

lol, too right. I have no GF, but i dont need love to keep me happy, anyway. I have my action figures ( hugs knees and rocks back and forth, with mad, demented look on face ) lol :D

You've been holding out on us again haven't you? Since you haven't given us enough money, I'll guess I'll have to take it out of you piece by piece! - Unknown Mandalorian.

Thats the best thing to do. Dont rush things, but let her know you like her at somepoint. Things will fall into place.

Ditch them both for they apparently do not care about your feelings.

Yes and no. You can always set a gang outing at first, so it's not all that obvious, and try to hang out particularly with that one person during the outing. Might be a way to get to know that person better, and see if there's any way you can get his/her atttention (other than friendly).

terra's approach worked for me. It didn't hurt that we're both upfront people and he just told me that he wanted to kiss me. At first I didn't think he ment a relationship, and not just a kiss, so when he went to hold my hand on the way home from the party I was surprised.

Sorry to hear that. But i do think it is a good idea to be friends first. I just don't always know how to make it more. That's why i'm direct and like guys who are the same.

see thats my problem, i never take advantage of a person, but i try and take advantage of the situation... which gets difficult to do since the two seem to commonly overlap so often

Yes. Independent meaning willing to take responsiblity for what and who are in their life, as apossed to stubborn which means unwilling to compromise and see other points of view. No one should want to be stubborn.

I'm not stubborn :P  No, I'm really not stubborn, but I can do things for myself and some guys just insist on helping me, which annoys me a bit because I can do things for myself.  I always catch myself after these moments of independance but by then, it's to late and it's hard for me to change that streak of independance.

I'm not talking about the normal politeness, although things like opening doors and such is appreciated.  I'm talking more taking politeness to the next level of being a bit pushy.  There might be hope yet though, new kid at school is kinda cute and flirty :P

Call me old school but that stuff to me is something that I make a habit to do.  From the places I've been I have noticed a few things.  This old lady was walking into a store and some guy dashed in front of her and didn't even hold the door in front of her.  So she nearly smashed right into it.  Personally that kind of stuff disgusts me.  It's as simple as taking a few seconds of your time to hold the door open.  Even just a extra shove as you are walking by helps. It seems the generation we are living in is the "me" generation.  It's these things that may appear small but really in the long run help out quite a bit.

look at the way women are treated in society, and women complain about it, the major problem is that women seem to flock to men who mistreat them, and away from nice guys

Like I said, normal politeness is appreciated, and I'm not one to go for the "bad boy" thing, it's just hard to find a guy who's polite and at the same time not to pushy.  That was the problem with my first bf, was very polite, but acted as if I needed help just carrying a bottle of water, it got very old, very fast.

True about a certain type of women. Certainly not all.

true, i neglected to point out that that is only the majority of women in my experience and that not all women fit that general 'rule'

What would be great is to find somebody that is nice when he should be, polite when he sould be and a real bad boy when its called for.

CA... if you like the new boy then I say try it out. I have found it never hurts to try.

Never hurts to try? Not so sure about that, but either way it can be a good way to learn about life. And emotions make you feel alive. Great things have been done from hurtful emotions.

Well that's what I believe. I also rather regret something I've done than not done. That's how you know you've lived.

Got my first gf at age 18.

At that time I felt desperate, 18 years old seemed to me like it was an age so late, without anyone serious, ever. People around me seemed to be all couples, yet myself I was still lonely... only wanted by the ugliest gal of my school, it seemed. I wasn't THAT desperate. At some point, my sis made me meet one of her friends... girl was cute. On a desperate day among desperate days, I tried charming her. Huge surprise, I didn't get rejected. Really, I was used to "no" as an answer.

That was over 15 years ago. Years have passed and a lot happened, but we're still together. She just had our third child not long ago. We're not in paradise, but we're happy. Perfection doesn't exist in anyone. Looking for that, you'll never find "The One".

Anyone can be happy and find "The One". Might be the one you're with, no matter how "unperfect" she is. It all depends on how you look at things.

Have you ever got "I don't want to kill you but I will if I have to"?

I think AA has gotten that one from me :P

You sure that wasn't I want to kill you but unfortunately I can't? :P

If only I could find a way to jump through your computer and finish this argument... :P  jk, I wouldn't kill you :P  Was very funny today, I saw the guy that I used to like who had asked out my friend (if that makes sense)  at Starbucks, and he was completely off since I looked completely different after having my hair done.  I found it most amusing, but I really don't like him like that anymore, don't really have anyone on my mind right now.
