But anyways Happy New Year!
I posted this elsewheres, and I guess I should post it here too:
I know tonight a lot of you are going to want to drink and celebrate and do this and do that, and who knows what else. I say, instead, why not do something moral, something wholesome, something meaningful? Something that will stick in your memory forever, as that one special moment. Instead of being stupid and silly and drunk, why not do this: Around midnight, make some hot chocolate. Make it really hot, so that it has to cool down for a bit. Leave it sit there, and put on your shoes and a coat. Go outside. Before you step foot in the snow, take a good look at it. Then open the door, and feel the rush of warm air turning into cold. Step outside, hear the crunch as your feet push through the snow. Take the time to look at your breath, turned to fog in the coldness of the night. Look around, take in your winter wonderland. Look at the beauty of the snow, the streetlights shining peacefully down upon the frozen scene. Now look up at the stars, see them shining brightly. If the moon is up, take a look at that too. Take a deep breath, and allow yourself a smile. Then, say a silent thank you that you're alive, that you're well. Say thank you for all the good things that have happened this year. Forget the bad things, and focus on the good ones, the ones that make you smile, that make you happy. Gather those memories, as you watch the stars. Then take another look around, notice the little things. Like how the snow piles up just a little higher against walls. Or the way the light of street lamps shine on the snow. Or random footprints where people have walked past. Then, once you're done, go back inside. Sit down in your bed, and drink your hot chocolate. Enjoy every sip of it. Let the chocolatey and sugary goodness fill you with warmth and and a sense of contentedness with the world. Then, put your cup away, and go to bed. After all, it's now after midnight and how else should you start off the new year, than with a good night's sleep, so that in the morning you're just as refreshed, alert, awake, and renewed as the new year itself is.
Isn't that a lot better than some silly stupid drunken idiot's idea of "celebrating"?
Well Miba, you'd be proud (since New Year has already happened in Australia) we went out with friends had a BBQ on the foreshore to watch the fireworks and I even had hot chocolate! Strange since it's summer in Australia... :D
Happy New Year!
I wholeheartedly agree with you Miba. I did have hot cocoa earlier, but I didn't have snow. Florida and all.
Happy New Year everyone. Cheers.

That is such a funky post :D
I do not drink anymore so I was able to appreciate the New Year sober (I really do not like being drunk any more and it is not a good idea when you are solely responsible for 3 young children as Devil Boy was away for the New Year)
Edited to add: You are right Terra.
Huge (hugs) to those who are alone at this time of year.
Miba, would you mind if I quoted what you have said on the other forum that I type on as I think they would like it :D

Sure, go ahead. :) I'm glad you like it.
The worst part, I have school tomorrow, no more late night RPing for me....Until Friday :D

Edited to add: I hope you have a funky day at school tomorrow :)
I think so....got a half day on the 14th
Happy New Year, vode! Oya! Here's to hoping for an awesome 2009!
Meh, I'm almost 21. I'd rather be smashed inside with a bunch of friends (that I don't have...) and having a great time, then stand outside in the cold snow (which we don't have in the valley) and appreciate life. I...don't rather like a lot of things happening to me in my life. So I'm thankful the other 364 days of the year. I'd rather just party this one night of the year. Which I NEVER even get to do anyways. I'm young, I have a whole life ahead of me. I want to go out and have a bunch of fun, instead of sit at home with people who can't even stand eachother for 5 seconds and not be able to have fun because of it. =/
Happy New Years guys. Actually got to get away from Louisiana and I'm visiting in-laws in Colorado. It's good to be back this way. I miss the cold and snow. Not going to like going back to swampy Louisiana next week.
Hope everyone is well and that you have a great holiday.
yeah, Happy New Year to all!
I hope you all had great Christmases, and got EXACTLY or maybe kinda what you wanted. :/ :P
But WOw, 2009! It's just started. Whoah! :o :D
Happy New Year to everyone.
Please Green stop banning me from the Anything forum.
okas

I hate a lot of my life, work is hell and a lot of other things go wrong. But I know drinking will just make it worse. And when you're old you'll look back on it and regret it.
Why do you hate it ?Life is good.
Yeah, it's good for you cause you're a kid. Imagine being trapped in a place so hellish that you come home crying at least once a week, spend the most the rest of your time on the verge of tears, and that all the spark and life has left your eyes and you're like a robot that's constantly being kicked around for no other reason than that the one in charge hates you for no reason. And it's destroying you, psychologically and physically, cause both your shoulders (especially the left one) are in pain every day and you're back hurts as do your hips. And you can't go away from it because there's no where else to go because everywhere else is full, closing down, or cutting hours. And you can't go away anyway because you need the money it gives you so you can continue to have a place to sleep and food to eat. But even this doesn't bring you much money and you're scraping by on almost nothing anyway. And then things at home break and cost a lot of money to fix, or the car keeps dying a little bit here and there and it's all you can do to keep it running. So next time you see your mom or dad give them a hug and say thank you.
........I'm not talking about "kid stuff" you know. I don't mean like, my mom won't give me 10 bucks for the movies waaa she's mean. I mean, REALLY bad stuff. And NO I am not going to talk about it. This is my very own private business between me, my boyfriend, and one particular friend.
I had a nice quiet New Year at home with my GF, and some of our family, a couple of beers, a couple glasses of red wine and a sip of champagne (just to toast at midnight)... not too bad.
Happy New Year to all.
Sorry, Cecilia, I meant Revan in my last post. I do hope things get better for you though.
