Krista was surprised and disappointed. She also noticed that the Sargent seemed a little annoyed at her questioning. She decided to back off and let the boys talk for a bit. She was happy just to find other survivors. Even if it was only another three.

"Great. Now were safe." Frank said.
"Hey, listen if you think your better off alone-" Fort began, but Krista interupted. "Did you call for, you know, pick up or somthing?"

"Yea...I did...they were blown to pieces by the missle launcher weilding giant..." Fort replied.

"How can he still be down there, I threw a grenade at it. Dont those usualy kill things?" Frank asked

Krista suddenly felt as helpless as she had when Alicia had died. She thought things were getting better, but it seemed they weren't. She was starting to wonder if they would have been better off in the car trying to find a way out.

"I think we need to do somthing about the termanator down there. Then get the hell out this place." Frank looked at the people in the elevator with him, he took pictures of all of them.
Interrogations are hard...
Fort didn't mind the pictures. They could help expose the people who did this. But the ones actually having him in them kinda unsettled him. He would let it slide however.
"Yea the terminator thing has to die...eventually...maybe enough bullets and explosions...who knows. That thing is nearly unstoppable at the moment." Fort said to the man. The elevator bell rang and signaled that they had reached the floor the others were on.

"Thanks for, you know, letting us in."Frank said, looking at his surroundings.
"Do you have any beds or couches or chairs or anything like that? I'm kinda tired."
Interrogations are hard...
Fort looked at the man skeptically.
"Apparently you didn't understand what I said a little while ago. There are terroists in here that are responsible for the virus outbreak. We could get into a fire fight at any moment. Now isnt the time to be resting. You of all people should know this. If there was ever a place to start taking pictures of its this place." Fort said to him

"Where are the terrorists? Above us? Below us?"
Interrogations are hard...
"Technically theyre supposed to be all over the building. However I've only run into a few. They should be localized at the top however, where the head of Rand should be. That who me and Jon are here to...meet." Fort replied to the man.

"Oh I think I have something that will take care of the problem." Castle walked over to the Dillon Minigun they had salvaged from the Helicoter and uncovered it.
"Hehehe."
Jon heard the elevator return with a "ding!"
"Fort? You find survivors?"
The flash of a camera going off in Jon's face was answer enough.
"Hmmph. Don't do that." Jon grumbled to the man with the camera.
"Well at least be happy that he's shooting you with his camera rather than gun," Krista said with dry humour hoping it'd break the tension in the air.
It was like thousands of voices cried out for a sequel and were suddenly silenced...
"Alright lets move out. The map next to the elevator says that theres stairs down that passage way. We should use them to get to the higher levels where there should be more of the terrorists. Stay close, low, and quiet. Me and were gonna use standard 2 by 2 formation. Me and Jon will cover each other. Castle you and Renfro will cover each other. And you two (he said looking at Frank and Krista) well, just stay alive."

Krista saluted half heartedly and turned to Frank, "We might have been better off in the car."

Fort looked through the hole in the wall at the horde of zombies roaming the streets below.
"Im not so sure."
I am a Role Playing Gamer, like my father before me.
"We can do that." Frank said, looking at Krista. "We can...Cant we?"
Interrogations are hard...
Krista smiled at Frank, "Oh I think we can. We've got guns." She said, she just failed to mention that she wasn't particularly gun savvy.

As the cabal of survivors headed towards the stairs, Jon approached the two newcomers.
"Names?"
"Uh..Frank."
"K-Krista."
"Well, Frank & K-Krista, you may be some of the last humans on earth. Try not to die. If I get infected, don't hesitate shoot. If you get infected, I won't hesitate. Aim with both eyes open."
Krista grinned, trying not to grimace. Great they'd shoot her if she turned zombie. What a relief... not.
"Ah Jon, we're not getting out of here any time soon, are we?" Krista asked, certain that she wasn't going to like the answer.
It was like thousands of voices cried out for a sequel and were suddenly silenced...
"Out of life? Possibly quite soon. Out of this madness? Probably never."
"Such an optimist," Krista sighed. "So how many guys do you need to take out before we leave this place?"
It was like thousands of voices cried out for a sequel and were suddenly silenced...
"Just one, head of company named Rand. However chances are he'll be hiding behind others."
Frank checked his M16 again. "So, when does this start?"
Interrogations are hard...
"Lets remember that we need the Rand guy ALIVE though. We gotta question him before we do anything to him. There are answers that we definitely need." Fort told the group. They reached the stairs and Fort grabbed the handle to the door leading to them.
"Ok from here on out keep your mouths shut. Talk only when necessary and use hand motions for any tactical team work."
Fort eased the door open and peered inside. He looked up the stairs and saw an automatic gun emplacement on the roof one flight up.
"Anyone know a stealthy way to take out an AI gun emplacement?" Fort asked, looking towards Jon since he was the most mysterious of the group. Might have something in his bag of tricks to help.

"Just the thing." Jon said as he pulled out his last few cherry bombs. He lit them all, threw once they had burned down enough, and the bombs bursted within milliseconds of reaching the target.
(oops, forgot about you Karson...your with us i guess.)

(ok, so are Frank Krista and Karson's guy with you?)

((See, now you've figured it out!))
With the cherry bombs as a distraction, Jon was able to destroy the machine with his guns.
"Onward."
The team moved up the stairs, not bothering to go through the second to last floor and went straight to the highest door in the staircase.
Fort put up his hand, signaling them to stop. He placed his ear against the door...
"-should be coming through this door at any moment, sir." Said an unknown voice
"Alright. Listen up men, we have 7 unknown intruders into the building and they've made it past the gun emplacements and the perimeter patrols. We'll take them out here and now. Dotson, go call in some extra reinforcements just in case. Alright everyone else, eyes on the door to the stairs. If anything moves...kill it." Said another voice.
Fort looked back to the team. They looked at him with question marks above all their heads. Fort gave them a grim look. He explained the situation to them quietly. Everyone's adrenaline rushes ended right there. Fort looked around the top of the staircase they were in.
Higher up was the door to the roof, but there would probably be snipers there, it was useless anyways. Next to it however, on a wall, was a 2x2 ft ventilation shaft with a fan spinning in front of it. Fort walked up to it as the team watched him, wanting to see what his new brilliant plan was. No one said anything for fear of the men outside hearing them.
Fort took his large combat knife out and used it to stop the fan and pry it off. He placed it down quietly on the floor. Jon smiled behind his mask, he knew what Fort was up to. Fort unscrewed the grate and placed it next to the fan on the floor.
"Castle, your up first." Fort told him and jerked his thumb into the shaft.

"What?! Are you crazy?! I can't get up there with my arsenal." Ed whisper-yelled.
"You'll get up there. That's an order." Fort said with utmost seriousness.
"Yes sir. Renfro, let's trade." Castle swapped his Barrett and ammo for Micah's XM26 Shotgun attachment and grip.
Castle crawled into the vent then helped Fort in, who pulled Jon up after him.
"Hrmm. Not your best angle, Castle." Jon commented about the view he had been given.
Krista looked at Frank, "Why do I get the feeling that we're going to get shot or eaten?"
Frank grinned, "Because we're with a bunch of blokes with big guns and itchy trigger fingers."
"Oh that makes me feel so much better." Krista said with laced sarcasm.

Reading Horus Rising by Dan Abnett. The main character does that with a flare.

"...You know...we have guns as well, and i still have a grenade." Frank grinned, hoping that he didnt get killed.
