i dont know if this has already been said-- but he's a businessman. he buys stocks and owns a LOT of property. in bloodlines, when the housing market was doing good, he bought 5 houses. then he always gets upgraded and the rest he just saves...he was close to broke when he got sick though because he was on meds constantly

ok... first lets get this out of the way. no orphanages, no nothing like that. Boba Fett is heartless. Read "the Mandalorian Armor". See how he treats his partners and people who thought they were his friends. What I hate is when people write Star Wars books obviously reading all the other books crucial to the character's stories. Some appear to not even have a precursory knowledge of the movies. I liked the Republic Commando game a lot, and like the books a lot too, but in an attempt to point out that clones were just as human as anyone else, they were almost portrayed as weak. So, all this to say, Boba probably spends his money on his massive repair bills. His ship takes a massive beating on a regular basis. For example, when he kills two IG-88s in a row as only Boba could, he completely ruins the Slave 1, even the hyperdrive was not functional anymore. Also, as someone pointed out earlier, He must have lots of medical bills. He takes so many hits, he will do anything do finish a job, and as was also pointed out earlier, he later gets a mechanical leg.

If you read Tales from Jabba's Hutt, he shows that he has morals. In two other stories, it is either stated or highly implied that he donates to orphanages. It is also never stated that he does not donate money in any book or comic. He may have more compassion for orphans than mercenaries. It's hard to compare books.
take it easy baby take it as it comes

Huh? In Tales of the Bounty Hunters, he has a mechanical leg. Taun We most likely died on the battle of Kamino, decades before Fett lost his leg, when he was around 60.

Actually, Fett never had a mechanical leg. In the Legacy of the Force books (I believe it's the "Bloodlines" book), it mentions problems that arose from being in the Sarlaac and the Sarlaac tendrils feeding on his leg first. That what it describes in the Tales from Jabba's Palace, I believe. The "you don't eat a barve like that all at once" thing. When Fett ticks off the consciousness that's inside the Sarlaac and it has the Sarlaac start eating on his leg. Anyway, the books mention that his leg had constantly been in pain because of it and that he finally had to have Taun We clone him another one on Kamino. Later in the books, he tracks down Taun We in hopes to help find a cure for the clone degenerative disease he has, to no avail. He ends up finding the cure elsewhere (not going to spoil it for you, in case you haven't read it).

Sorry for not typing the whole thing you just wrote to much. Anyway he did to have a mechanical leg it said so right in Tales of Bounty Hunters. After he caught this one guy who was like worth 5,000 creds, or something like that then he had enough mony to order a clone leg! Late response, but I believe that Tales of the Bounty Hunters is no longer considered canon, with newer books by Karen Traviss.
Nope, Taun We is still alive, Mercilous--Boba tracks her down--she was working for Arkanian Micro in Bloodlines.

December 20, 2008 12:36 pm # He might spend a lot of money buying information. Tracking down some of the most wanted criminals in the galaxy would probably involve paying off informers. Fear and intimidation can have little effect on criminals who feel that they have nothing to lose, anyway... but almost everyone has a price.

SF is what life is all about.
December 12, 2009 12:33 pm # Most of the Legacy of the force books expose the Fett to be a man so ingraned in habits that he formed to keep himself alive it literally causes him pain to force himself away from those habits. He started out following in the footsteps of his father, and I think he is a classic example of "I did what I was supposed to do because I was supposed to do it".
I think he followed the example of his father in that he spent money on the bare necessities. The only time he doesnt skimp is when he is buying weapons, upgrades, and equipment. He started out just saving an increadible ammount of credits because he learned from his father that men who have wealth have freedom.
He did invest in a great many companies including Mandal Motors, Kuat Drive Yards, and also in several different long term investments. Most of this money he sat on because he didnt really have anything to do with it. As a Merc/Bounty Hunter he was never truly loyal to anyone but himself. As a result he had no greater cause to use his money for.
The newest books have painted him as being a bit more "Soft" and the reason is that no matter how awe inspiring of a person he is he IS still a HUMAN... Most humans experiance a myriad of emotions when they get to be as old as he is. He looks soft because he is looking back and wondering if he was right to hoarde all those credits, if he was right to never give up the hunt, if he was right live as he did for so many years.
He is basicly waking up to the fact that he was an amazing person but he wouldnt really leave his mark on the universe.
I like to think of him as still as hardcore as he ever was, but now he is getting old enough to look for someone to pass the torch to.
Just my take on it.
"Everyone dies. It is the final and only lasting justice."

February 18, 2010 10:18 pm # Well in the EU he spends a lot of credits to have his leg looked at. Im sure that costs a pretty penny. Not to mention all the contacts he has through out the universe that he uses to get the jump on Bounties. Also the money he pays the port authorites to look the other way when he lands. Not to mention the money he uses to modify his weapons and slave one.
