What do you mean by:" to a degree"?
Like I said only the movies are 100% canon. Since I'm not that good at explaining this read here. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Canon
Now I know what ya mean, thx
But does anyone eles consider the books canon?
the books are written off of the screenplays. Usually the authors stick in one or two little things.

Yeah, but there are loads of other Star Wars books besides the novel adaptations of the movies.
I think that to the authors and fans, the books are canon. Unfortunately, I'm sure George Lucas doesn't, and he has every right to simply do a way with any of "canon" in novels if he has his own "vision."

Depends on the book, theres probly a book about a Boba saying that he was born on *name a planet* so, you cant realy consider ALL books canon because as you all know boba is a test tube person...
could we consider him a bastard? i dont think we could, because he is a clone and therefore has no parents in a literal sense.

Most of them are I would say. Bobas survival is proven. He did survive 100%.
He's in Jedi Academy, right? That's ten years after episode 6. One of the hardest bosses in the game....
sorry, again but i dont understand? :O
Canon = official Star Wars reference material.
I think what counts as canon depends on what context your putting it in. In the Star Wars costuming world, canon is anything in the movies, books, or EU that has X amount of references.
LucasFilm Ltd counts canon as movies only, because that is where the original responsibility for the Star Wars Universe resides. EU material is refereanceable canon to most people, just not in the course of the movies. If George Lucas wanted to do 3 *after Endor* SW movies, he wouldn't have to start with Truce at Bakura. He could just pick up after the party on Endor and wipe that book out.

k, thanks Novall Talon. So a canon book is a type of book which is something to do with star wars and references in the movies.....;)
the books are canon, in my opinion.
Coming to theaters whenever George Lucas dies.
k, its not my fault i dont know , ;)
In most cases the books are around 95% canon
k, canon books i'll look it up on google
Unless george Lucas mkes another movie to contrdict the information, I'd say books are cannon.
the books r about all of the 6 movies and secrets about them? :O
no...
ugggh.
the books are the "extended universe" of SW.
they weren't written by George Lucas, but they are considered to be mostly canon, or, part of the main storyline.
like, the Spider-Man movies are non-canon to the Spider-Man comics, savvy?

depends on how long ago the book was made...

I'd think that it would depend more on the facts in the book than the date.
I think that you have to consult lucasarts, be fore you can PUBLISH a starwars book.
