I'm from Upstate NY, but I grew up in NYC. I didn't think I had a bad accent, but when I was in South Carolina and Georgia, in the army, I had trouble understanding some of the deep south accents. Which was great, because in basic, most of the people issuing orders really dig it when you stare at them blankly after they yell, and you say "huh?".  After nearly 20 years in the upstate region of the state, I've taken the edge of the dock worker accent, but when I get fired up, it comes out again. There's a three hour driving distance between where I live now, and the city. My cousins live far out on Long Island, and there is a distinct long island accent which my aunt picked up. Think Lilly Tomlin's operator character from Saturday Night live. It rips your ear drums apart. And this is all in one state. :)

I live in Oregon, but I'm from Arizona, and I lived in Maryland for about 5 years. I've seen just about all there is to see in the States. But, there are some other places here I want to go. I also want to go to every continent. And, referring to the earlier discussion about accents, when I first moved to Oregon, I thought it was so strange that everyone called carbonated beverages pop, but now I'm used to it. I never got used to the east coast accent, though.

Lower 5th ring of hell, it's not that bad, little warm in the summer.

Actually I live in Connecticut, but my college is in Vermont so I'm there most of the time. Both are pretty frigid right now, unlike my nice cozy corner of Tartarus.

49F has been the average night temp for my area of L.A. - cold enough to see your breath and wish that the air wasn't stealing the heat that you just siphoned from the house, but warm enough to remind you that you don't live in Russia. It's been on and off warm during the daytimes; we've been having a lot of rain and/or clouds as of late. I want to see snow before winter ends, though - I haven't seen snow for 6 years.

I live in Tucson, Arizona baby. It actually snowed here and stuck a few years ago. But snow in the valley is very uncommon. It can get to the freezing point in winter, but theres seldom any moisture for snow. And summertime is 110 degree time. With monsoons.

All of you with your "no snow over here", shut up. :P I am sooo jealous. I am in Montreal, that's in the province of Quebec, in Canada for those who don't know. Our winter is an intense pain, and right now I am chicken from it, to the point of even avoiding going out as much as I can. Now how lame is that?

Why won't you just share a little of your eternal sun? We want some over here.

I have been living in Tokyo, Japan for the past eight years. It hasn't dropped below 48 in the day time here and it's sunny. The winters are really mild where I am but they are having serious snow storms up north right now.

Virgina's nice, it's pretty. And it's definitely not the most boring state. That would be somewhere like Missouri or Iowa or something. Kansas and Oklahoma are pretty boring too. Just field after field after field, not even many trees or hills to break it up. Just endless stalks of corn. At least in Virgina you have trees and mountains and lakes and rivers and stuff.

Haha Saskatchewan is the most boring province in the world.  There's a saying goes that if you lose your dog, you can see where he's running for 5 days.  In case you don't know Saskatchewan, it is ridiculously flat.

I dunno, around here puts you to sleep pretty easily. Sure there are mountains and hills, but there is no such thing as "grass". At least, green grass. Or trees. Just cactus as far as the eye can see.

The midwest is pretty boring to. Trust me, I lived in South Dakota for 8 years, and in one of the larger cities too! Yeah theres lots of touresty things to do in the summer, but after a while you relize you've seen everything and been all over the Black Hills ten times, you really start to crave the big city. We moved 10 years, and honestly, I don't miss it. Tucson isn't a really big city...but its a lot bigger then Rapid City! Theres not much to do here either though....

I've never lived in South Dakota, but I think it's beautiful. Course I like wastelands, so the badlands are one of the most beautiful places I've seen. (they do stretch into MT)

I agree though that the tourist things where you live can get old. I live fairly close to Glacier Park but I've never been there. I should one day though, just to say I've been there.

Tucson, in Arizona? I don't really like Arizona much, it's too hot.

And just cause I complain of nothing to do doesn't mean I want to move to a city. This is the biggest town I've ever lived in. It has a little mall, a Wal-Mart, a K-Mart, a Target, and a Borders! Plus a theater! I'm used to Wal-Mart being it. Maybe a little one or two screen theater. Most the time just a church and a post office and maybe a little general store. That's where my mom is now, church-postoffice-generalstore. I usually hate being around people so how I ended up here I don't know. I'm not really sure I could handle living in a big city. It seems exciting, like sometimes when I'm in Salt Lake City I almost think I could stand living there again. (lived there for some years as a little kid)

Besides I have lots to do now. A job that keeps me away from home and life, and then when I get home I have my sewing or video games or messing around on the computer, or cleaning which never seems to get done, or cooking, or anything. You find things to do. Make hobbies. When I was a kid and didn't understand that, I wanted to move somewhere decently sized. Now that I understand I would almost want to move up to where my mom is, even after all the struggling to move away from that sort of life. Now, I have hobbies, I have things to do, books to read, journals to write, walks in the woods to take, things I just don't have time to do anymore BECAUSE I live in a city. I don't like people, and I don't need them. I haven't any friends in RL other than Zivi, my husband, and I don't really want any.

Been there, some odd 14 years ago or so. I guess its a good thing too, I've heard that within the next few decades the glaciers will completely vanish. Still, I wouldn't want to live there though.

Yes, Tucson in Arizona (is there any other Tucson elsewhere?), where the summers are long and hot, and it almost never rains. Actually, I like the heat. No I wouldn't want to be out walking around when its 110 out, but I like summer more then winter. Cause I hate cold weather.

I don't think there's any Tucsons anywhere else, but you never know.

I prefer to be too cold than too hot. And I love rain. But, if everyone liked the same things it would be way too overpopulated in one area and everywhere else would be deserted. It's good for some people to like heat and others to like cold.

I live in Rhode Island, s right now its getting cold. It doesn't really bother me I guess I prefer the cold over the heat. Even though I lived in Florida for 8 years. I absolutely hated the summers. Too hot, I did like the rain though It kinda makes you think.

Do you think you could have a white Thanksgiving? I've never seen one of those in North Carolina. In fact, the only time I've ever experienced a white Christmas was back 1984 when I went to visit my grandmother in Michigan.
