I became intrigued by the Helmetted One when I picked up a copy of The Mandalorian Armor when I couldn't find a copy of Shadows of the Empire. I thought it great to have an in depth few of the character that was Boba Fett. Then the Fettish grew from there.
How did it happen for you?

It was like thousands of voices cried out for a sequel and were suddenly silenced...
I think when it really started for me was in 2002 right after Episode II came out. I had not seen the movie yet, but I did see some of the toys. One of them was Jango Fett, and I said to myself, "Hey, he looks cool." I then started to grow in liking this character after I did see the movie, but I remembered Boba Fett, and said, "He looks tons cooler than Jango." So, I picked up The Mandalorian Armor. This was the first non-scholastic Star Wars book I ever read and I loved it so much. So I continued to like him more and more as I read through the trilogy, and then came where I am today.

Ooo, my best friend wants to be one of those...or a park ranger. He can't decide.
As fer me...I was never really much of a Fett fan. I just stumbled across this site a few years ago, ghosted for a while, and joined. I like everything about Star Wars except for: George Lucas, bad/possesive authors, and George Lucas. Fett just happens to be the coolest character in that entire universe, thats all.

I wanted to be one a few years ago. I'd even bought a book or two on the subject. And I was trying to get in better shape and be alert and stuff, just little training things. But a few years ago I changed my mind.
Anyway, about my Fett story: I think it actually started when the OT SEs came out on video. I was watching ROTJ for the first time (for some reason when I was a kid I never saw ROTJ, I don't think we owned it till the SEs) and I saw Boba fall in the sarlacc and for some reason I was sad. I thought, "I feel bad for him, I wonder who he was? What was his name? His story? It's a pity he died...." And at the time I think I only vaguely remembered he was also in ESB. I had never taken much notice of him before.
Fast forward to when I was 13: I had recently discovered EU and was buying a book or two at the store, and I saw The Mandalorian Armor, and on the cover was Boba and I thought, "Hey! It's that same guy!" So I bought it. I read it and decided to get the other two in the trilogy. It was during Slave Ship that I decided I was a fan. So I guess I became a fan in 2000.

Empire. It all started in Empire, when Vader said "no disintigrations" aimed at Fett, and he replied only grudgingly. Then, that scene where Solo floats away from the fleet, and Fett follows. Brilliant. You knew in those two brief scenes he was a force all his own.

my Fettish is a family thing. I grew up with pictures of him, watching the movies and listening to stories from my dad. So it was only natural I'd grow up with a Fettish.

For me, actually, it all began with KOTOR. I had met Canderous. I'd been in the Dxun camp. I fought in the battle circle and flown the war droid. The Mandalorians fascinated me... my boyfriend too, for that matter.
As it just so happened, he had a birthday coming up. I was on a very tight budget, but being the intellectual type that he is I figured he wouldn't mind getting a couple of books now and some more of his precious models when I could afford it. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon a book called 'The Mandalorian Armor' with a picture of Boba Fett on the front. This was at a time when I could hardly keep Boba and Jango straight. But I'd always figured that 'that Fett guy' was just some bounty hunter with spiffy armor. Wrong! This led to a tear of researching and movie-watching by both my boyfriend and myself. And I became fascinated by Boba Fett... almost to an unhealthy extent.
I came to admire Boba because of what he stood for. As a teenager in a fairly disfunctional family, there is no justice. Not only did he have the qualities of the Mandalorians that I had come to know and love, but he also stood for one cause above all others. He wanted something more than honor and glory on the battlefield. He served a greater good (as best as he knows how), and not so much himself. And now I have to say I'm thankful for this madness. It's only been about a year, but it's been a good year so far.

May 1, 2006 6:38 pm (Edited May 1, 2006 06:39 pm) # Empire. It started when Vader told him "no disintigrations". I thought: holy S**T, this guys talking to the Sith Lord like THAT? Who is he? How'd he get so darned tough that he needs a warning label? He must be bad, because the Empire, at wits end trying to catch Luke and Han and Leia are going to extremes to bring him in. Now what? That scene was the hook. Then came the line. The scene where the Falcon floats away, and I think, Damn, Han's softening up but he's still clever...and you see this brief flare, and Slave I appears, then you see the pilot. Yep, it's him: the hunter with the mask and the warning label. Wow. I'm liking him more. Then, the sinker. He captures the heroes, proving he is better than the Empire (et al), and, the heros. He is above the petty, better than the best, more clever, more dangerous, a man of force, means, and a devious and brilliant mind. And, behind the menacing mask, a man of mystery. That drives chicks crazy, you know. And then the line: "He's no use to me dead." Wow, pragmatic too. I was a Fett fan ever after.

Well.....it's a complicated story........I explained it in another topic, but I forgot what it was.....OK then, where do I start....
When I was a little kid, I remember seeing a really cool guy in a mask.........long after that, (in AOTC) I saw Jango........and the second he put his helmet on.........there was some really wierd moment where I had a connection with the mask on the screen. I looked into it some more, and I discovered about the amazing Boba Fett. :)

When I first saw Empire Strikes Back on VHS I started to like Boba Fett. But he was never my favorite. Then, years later, I saw Jango Fett in Episode II and I was just amazed. I started to like Boba a little more after I saw Episode II. Boba's good but Jango is better.

"Your passions give you strength, and through strength you gain power. You have seen it, you feel it. You must break your chains."
Alright this needs a story to explain:
Imagine yourself in a room with a bunch of fourth graders. It's the end of the year, and a bunch of kids decide to have a few movie nights. One of them digs up a dusty set of something ancient called: Star Wars, Special Edition. The first movie delights everyone. Kids are running around making lightsaber sounds and destroying the Death Star. So the second movie is watched... The kids turn towards others and talk exitedly about the movie, and a friend of mine turns toward me, "That was so cool!" I nod. Then I ask a question that leaves everyone in the room with a confused looks on thier faces. "What was the cool guy in the helmet's name?" *chirp chirp* An obnoxius "Darth Vader, duh!" I shake my head and, rather huffily, reply "No not him. The guy with the cool armor, and the awsome ship...the voice was all scratchy...his helmet had a T on it."
No one had a clue who I was talking about.
The movie was rewound to the Fett part. Silence again. Then the same obnoxious voice "You mean the guy with the bucket on his head?"
Things were thrown, and thus the my Fettish was born...and I gained the unfortunate nick-name of Bucket Head. (I'm in High-School now...and am STILL called Bucket Head.)
REBF- Rapid Entry By Fett- The refined and more effectively ruthless version of REBJ.
AHAHAHA!!! Awesome story Veni-Vici-Fett!! Really, it amuzed me! :D

LOL those are good stories!! Veni-Vici-Fett--oh my--what a nickname! But, good that it came from Star Wars in a way...
My Fettish started when I was subscribed to Insider. One time, I got a couple of posters (I guess actually a cover or something) of Boba Fett and one of Han Solo. I gave Solo to my mom, but not really knowing much about Boba at the time, I put him up on my wall in my room anyway because he was Star Wars. The more I looked at the poster , the more I liked the character. Then, the more I wanted to know about his character. This was back in like 1996-97. On top of that, I have like Star Wars since I was a kid, but I really, really got into it in high school (I graduated in 1997). We played a field show of sci-fi music my sophomore year in marching band--this included Superman theme, Star Wars Main Title, Odessey Rock, and Cantina Band! (Two from Star Wars--yea!) I was so taken by the music that it re-vamped my intrest in the saga. I knew I was a true Fett fan when one of my Star Wars-liking friends asked me, "who wears the Mandalorian armor?" to test my degree of intrest in Star Wars. I told him "Boba Fett of course", and his jaw hit the floor. LOL
Wow--a Fett helmet as an engagement gift??? COOL!! I have one now, but I found it on eBay....hubby HATES Star Wars... :(
