Question: Who would win - Die Hard's John McClane or the Bourne series' Jason Bourne?

I really don't know. They are two totally different characters. John McClane is more gung ho while Jason Bourne is more a planner. I think probably Jason Bourne but only by a sliver.

those are some realy good points. like you said, Jason Bourne is more of a planner but McClane is more resourcefull, he seems better at makeing use of things as they happen so im not sure who would win

It would depend on the kind of fight. If its a fist fight- John McClane. But if there is time to plan and so forth- Bourne because he is a trained assassin.

Who is John McClane?

" Hi!"

He is the protaganist from the Die Hard series. I'd say that Jason Bourne would win.

I kinda think that McClane would win, even though Bourne is a trained assasin, McClane seems to be more resourceful and adaptive. It would be realy close though, and anyone could win.

I could imagine it now, McClane follows Bourne into a room, guns blazing, stops firing, realizes no one is there.  Meanwhile Bourne comes up from behind and slits his throat with the ninja wire.

I can too...........McClane lies dead on the floor.

Thats a tough one.  I have to go with Bourne in the end, though, because he has more training and skill as a special operative, than McClane, who is simply a cop who has a lot of bad days.

How about this for an incredible movie:  John McClane, Jack Bauer, Jason Bourne, and Sam Fisher team up against all the bad guys ever.  My brain would probably explode from sheer awesomeness.  I may start a topic on this . . .

Lol thats a good one Draco. Yep I loved that show.

I think Jack Bauer is overrated.

I'd like to John McClane, but logic demands I say Jason Bourne.

nothing/nobody can beat Chuck Norris.

With the exeption of Mr. T.

I don't see why they would have to fight Chuck Norris, as he is not a criminal.

Mr. T won the World-Wide Poker Compitition with a Joker, an instruction card, and a a number 4 in Uno.

We could go on for a while, but it is off-topic. You could start a topic for it, though.

Common sense, Logic, and reasoning all say Bourne wins...............but I can't.  You Never, EVER, count out John McClain.  You could say the samething about Jason, but that just makes this match too close to call for me.

And keep it mind, it was a whole TEAM of TRAINED ASSASSINS *though admittedly not on par with Jason* that Bruce took out in Die Hard 2, and again in 4.

McClains less realistic than Bourne. Cmon, a jet fighter on a highway? His movies are unrealistic. From what I've heard, anyways. Not as bad as the MI movies.  All Bournes fighting is hand to hand, and the occasional pistol. Oh, once a hunting rifle. But that's it. No "cars", machine guns, or anything, just hands and pistols. Bournes the best assassin from his story (he took out two others, with the same training), and his brains and tactics are unparalled. Bourne, all the way.

It would depend on the kind of fight. If its a fist fight- John McClane. But if there is time to plan and so forth- Bourne because he is a trained assassin.

Are you kidding? Bourne's one of the best hand to hand fighters, ever. He'll use ANYTHING in his environment, and use it well. He'll take a book, or a pen, and use it--effectively.

He can't adapt? Besides ^that^, he shoved a gas hose and a newspaper in a toaster to make a bomb. Hows that not adaptation? He taped a flashlight to a fan, making it look like he's searching a room, and then ambushed the ambushers. He fired a gas tank to distract another assassin, then hunted him down, killing him. THAT'S adaptation. He had no memory, but managed to hunt his story down, and find the people that did everything to him. He was making the whole thing up as he went.

Yep, all true vod; all excpet maybe the part about all the Die Hard's being phony.  The new one was a little too much, the 'killing a helecopter with a car' and the jet scene were all pretty unrealistic, but those were the leangths they had to go to try try to top the other films.  Die Hard 1 and 3 were AWSOME, and 3 was so realistic that I heard the FBI *or some agency* contacted the film company about the bank robbery scene; was TOO real for them

And I TOTALLY agree Bourne is better at hand to hand,  I don't even think McClain IS that good with his hands in comparison; he's just amazingly tough.  He couldnt take down the 'ninja hooker' who probalby wasn't half his weight in DH4 despite some 'solid blows' *movie writing, we above all fans know it's stupid,* and had his shebs handed to him by 'Carl' in DH 1 at the end, only winning that cause of his incredible toughness

So like I said, all the indications are and should be Bourne......................but I STILL will just never bet against John McClain.

Haven't seen them, but the previews of 4 included those two VERY unrealistic scenes. And Bourne's so adaptable and clever that he'd always get away. He managed to elude the entire agency after him for 3 movies, defeat multiple agents with his own training (again, in hand-to-hand), so my bets on him.

I agree with Werda Verd. Bourne comes out on top. John McClane is pretty cool and tough though. But Bourne would outwit and outmaneuver him.
