Hei

I was watching a film, last night (the magic roundabout) and it got me thinking. Some TV show can work better as a film than others.

What TV shows to films do you think work well and which do you think do not?

These are the ones that I think work:

Wallace and Gromit

I think it worked really well in a film version. The story worked well and it managed to keep the atmosphere of the TV series.

Scooby Doo

I enjoy both the live action films and the animated films. They are fun and managed to stretch the story to film length while retaining the feel of the TV show.

The ones that I did not think worked well:

The magic roundabout

I thought this was a really bad film. I think one of the reasons was that it was not possible to stretch the 10-minute shows to film length while retaining the feel of the TV show. I loved the TV show, I thought it was just so funky but I was not impressed with the film at all. And straggly enough the cast for the UK version is nearly completely different to the US version.

Police squad (The naked gun)

I think that on their own they are funky films but compared to the TV show it is not that good. I thought that the TV show was so fab and I love the serious feel to it (such a shame that only 6 were made)

I think I am trying too hard but I just cannot think of anymore at the moment.
