In today's LancasterOnline.com (Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA) an article by Carla Di Fonzo on summer blockbusters -- namely the new Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer film -- included an appearance of "Boba Fett"... in the interview:
"It's all about the Silver Surfer, dude — anyone who sees the movie is going to see him," said Danford Rivers, York-based comic book collector and critic. "Everyone pretty much agrees the first one was lame, but man, the Silver Surfer is the Boba Fett of the Marvel universe. And I'm semiashamed to say this will put my rear in a theater seat."
Agree? Disagree? Discuss. :)

I've seen a few episodes of the old Silver Surfer show, and he does not seem too much like Fett. I can see a few parallels. They are both fairly emotionless, not the most well-known character, henchmen who searh for something their master/employer want (planets in the Surfer's case), one of the only (or the only) of their race left.
take it easy baby take it as it comes
I think he was more referring to the fact that Boba Fett and The Silver Surfer are the lesser known "cool" characters in their universe. Ask a fan about Boba and they will know how awesome he is. Ask some one else, and they will barely know who he is. Same with the Silver Surfer. Everybody knows Thing, Torch, Invisible Woman, and Mr. F... but SS is by far better characters then them.
While some may not agree, I think the Silver Surfer is definately one of the greatest super heroes of all time, and so I will be in the theaters for FF2.

Silver Surfer owns all of the Fantastic 4. He is the Boba Fett of Marvel.
I somewhat agree. Except that surfer is shows a bit more compassion towards humans than the Fett. That is the only difference I can think. And I hope Galactus makes an appearance.

I agree with Sev. The surfing, not Boba. :P
The pen is mightier than the blaster!

Galactus is soposed to be a cloud :(

May 14, 2007 10:38 pm (Edited May 14, 2007 10:39 pm) # Galactus is going to make an appearance in the movie as a cloud (If I interpreted correctly)? First off, I'd like to see a source for that.

That is just a rumor, nobody knows how he will appear yet. Though it has been said that it will probably not be seen in a physical sense, but I'm not really sure what that means. From what I've seen he will be shown as "Powerful". But The Surfer is gunna be the main concept.

But you can't have Surfer without Galactus. Which means they'd do a 3. Because it's only the Rise of the Silver Surfer.

It's called the Rise of the Silver Surfer because he is going to be what the movie revolves around. He is a 10x better character than Galactus and it is harder to have a supreme universal planet eater as a running villain for 2 hours. Galactus WILL be in the movie, they just haven't announced how yet. But from what I've been reading they are going for some sort of powerful vision more than an actual character. (I'm not sure what that means)

Forget the Silver Surfer, The Human Torch is my favorite in that movie. Out of all of Marvel Spider-Man is the best superhero.
I'm just helping Boba Fett and killing wookies for him.
wookiehunter, OK. But we're relating it back to Boba Fett, like how Human Torch has a few similarities to Boba Fett, i.e. flamethrower, jetpack flying, etc.

I just saw the movie. It wasn’t a great film by any stretch of the imagination, but it was light years ahead of the original. It was certainly entertaining and I walked out pleased.
The Silver Surfer was definitely the best part of the movie. There definitely is a comparison to Fett with him. They are both anti-heroes, with smaller roles and huge popularity. The Surfer looked great and was well done. Especially during the middle scenes where he was dull with real make up and prosthetics, without CGI.
The Reed Richards actor and Jessica Alba still have zero chemistry. Their entire relationship subplot was as useless as it was in the first movie. Alba’s hair and creepy contacts ruined her for me in the movie. She looked best naked and face down on the pavement.
Chiklis and Evans were still the best part of the FF team, and they could even be good with a real director and movie.
Galactus looked incredible and was cool. He was a gigantic swirling cosmic storm, not just a cloud. He was sentient, but didn't talk at all. It worked much better as a force of nature than a giant in pink and purple armor. Of course people will cry about it, but its true.
McMahon was still a pretty good Doom, much better than in the first. He was not a bad choice in the original, the movie was just done poorly.
Just a simple man trying to make his way in the universe.
