Sorted by oldest to newestSo George Lucas got his ideas from these old serials. Interesting. Could you post us a picture of this DVD cover?
lucas has always admitted to looking for inspiration, and taking ideas from old saturday afternoon serials.
ex. commander cody was the name of a superhero in the 50's i think...could be off a little.
one of my favorite arcane facts about boba is that his mannerisms, are those- clint eastwood in "the good, the bad, and the ugly". lucas told kershner(sp)-the director of ESB to have boba always be craddling his rifle and his demeanor to be cold, much like eastwood in that movie.
to come back to the point, im not surprised to find the lucas has either lifted many ideas or drawn on them for inspiration.
It's not below him, that's for sure...
Watched the end of that movie. Boba is definitely a lot like Mr. Eastwood in that movie. I could so see him doing the whole hanging scene.
Now there's a picture for you.
I believe some clarification is needed. Clint has his partner at gun point having him dig for the gold. He digs it up, then gets his partner climb up on a cross (they're in a cemetery) and put his head in a noose. Then Clint leaves with some bags of gold, but leaves two bags on the dirt then rides off. His partner keeps eyeing the gold and is almost slipping off. We then go back to Clint who has supposedly left, but we see him aiming his gun in the direction of his friend. He takes the shot shooting the rope and the guy falls down alive. Something Fett would do if you ask me.
I know. That is what I meant. Sorry if it came out differently.
Star Wars is really based off of tv shows, comic books, mythology, etc. George Lucas really just took a whole ton of action/romance stories and smushed them together, but set it all futuristic and in space. It's still totally awesome though.
The name "The Phantom Menace" is actually meant to be a name similar to those used in the old Flash Gordon series.
Hail to the King Baby!!
