Topic: Boy scouts/ Girl scouts

Ok, I may look like a nerd posting this but, Is anyone in Boy scouts/Girl scouts here? I'm a Life scout in Boy scouts. Its really fun, I only have to do a couple more things to get Eagle scout. Only 3% of Boy Scouts reach Eagle. My little sister is in Girl scouts (Love GS cookies!)

I am. A high rank looks very good on a collage applacation. If you get Eagle, and you join the United States Army, you automaticlly get a higher pay roll. Almost everybody in my troop has gotten to Eagle. One of them brought  in a real eagle, from the zoo for his "Eagle Profect," and got "Eagle Project of the Year" or something to that affect.

I was in Boy Scouts Canada but then some law was past that girls were allowed to join Boy Scouts.  It just got way too politically correct so I dropped out.

i was a boy scout in my last school there was a pine wood durbiy with little wood cars that you carve and build yourself then they put them down a hill and measured the speed i got 85 out of 200 people

I'm a Girl Scout and I'm working on my Gold Award. I don't really like my troop too much because all we do is stupid-indoor-girly things. I'm a tomboy, so it kills me when I see other troops doing things like archery, survival camping, ect. Slowly, though, I'm transforming things and we're starting to do more adventurous things. (YAY! :))

Scouts is really fun.  I like tying the knots. (I'm one of the knot instructers in my troop) :D

I was in Girl Scouts for maybe half a year... when I was 7 or so. Didn't like it very much...
I love girl scout cookies though! My mom just bought two boxes of thin mints & lemonades! :D

I was one a long time ago, for about a year. I don't remember much of it, I got a few patches and stuff, and we went to some convention thing. It was fun. The thing was that the group had just started out, and it only lasted about a year till people started to drop out then it ended.

My brother was but I have never been. It's not my thing. I do love Girl Scout cookies though

When I was a little girl...ages ago....I was in girl scouts. 

I was always jealous of the boyscouts.  They went camping, hiking, fishing, etc etc...

All the girlscouts ever did was cook, sew, and sell cookies...

So I quit.

You are my hero...:) It's my leaders fault (me and my GS Mando buddies are trying to stage a coupe {spel?} against her. KILL THE EMPIRE! :lol:) but our co-leader is awesome! She pratically lives at Cabela's. We went camping with BSs a couple years back and we played "war games" with them and me and one of my friends beat them at it (we stood in the creek under the bridge :lol:)

I dropped out because there was a lot of pressure to drop out from friends.  I probably should have stayed, and become an eagle.

I was a BS for a few years. Got to ... Webelos or whatever its called. Then our leaders changed and we did all knots all the time... And I hate knots. We had been doing fun stuff all along, everything that was fun, and then we did all the stuff that was "appropriate for real boy scouts."

So my friends and I quit, and I was much happier without that retard scout leader. Ahhh reminscing...

lol, that sukcs. I hate scout leaders who do that. it makes me mad.

You'd get on well with my hubby. He loves knots too. He was once a scout. I never was, have always despised camping.

Haven't worked with the Scouts in the last few years.  I've just been too busy with work and all.  But, I was an Eagle Scout as a teenager, then helped out as Assistant Scoutmaster after I turned 18.  One of the best things I ever did as a young man.  I highly recommend this for any young person.  Great way to focus you, develop some leadership skills, and see what you can really do.  I'm biased though, because I had a really great Scoutmaster, who was like a second father to me.  I don't know if anyone's ever seen that old Disney movie, "Follow Me, Boys" but that always reminds me of that time in my life.  Good times.  I still enjoy going backpacking every chance I can get.  However, I'm not too keen on going camping in the swamps down here in Louisiana, now.  Don't feel like becoming 'Gater food.  Plus, I never did get rid of my aversion to snakes.  Disgusting creatures.  And they have them in spades down here in the swamps.  Par for the course, I guess.

I was in the Boy Scouts when I was about eleven.  I didn't care much for it.  I did better in the military though ;)

Let's see in first grade in Lubbock ,Texas I was a campfire girl and wore and a red and blue uniform. By second grade my family moved to Murray, Ky and I was a brownie then a Girl Scout for  coupe of years then by 5th grade I had had enough.

never got into it. my cousin was an eagle scout though. but i love those cookies too.

OMG so do I. I'm trying to get my Eagle by the end of the year.

When I was little, I used to want to be in the girl scouts so bad, but I never joined.  Sometimes I wish I did, but I do buy the cookies whenever I see them selling!  :)

At long last: my Eagle court of honor is on Monday :)

Congrats Gunslinger!  I was part of Cub scouts as a kid but when I moved up to Boy Scouts, I stoped caring for the program. Eagle looks good on college transcripts though ...

Yeah- too bad I've already been accepted somewhere XD
