Sorted by oldest to newestAnyone who is launched unexpectadly from their feet into a giant skiff wall would make some sort of scream... I mean it's not like Boba accepts death easily. He does not want to die, and he is only humanoid.
Hail to the King Baby!!
true and it does add a bit of humour
Having all of a sudden bursting off with no control I'd scream too. He isn't dead though.
I know he is not dead, I wouldn't be much of a Fett fan if I thought he was... I was only saying that he did not want to accept it, which is part of the reason he escaped.
Hail to the King Baby!!
I never did like that scream, I always expected something more masculine.
Although it did make me laugh when I recently rewatched ROTJ.

My friend's theory is that that whole action sequence is an homage to the Saturday-morning T.V. action shows and cartoons of the 60's and 70's. Hence the cartoony way Fett is (supposedly) killed, and the outrageous scream that he utters as he soars off. It's supposed to funny, the way it is when a villian goes down in an old Batman episode or the like.
A lot of stormtroopers make a similar scream when shot down. What comes to mind is one on that bridge in Episode IV.
It is a commonly used scream; the Whitgreen (I think that that is the name) scream.

Actually, I think it's called the Wilhem scream, or something along those lines.

Yes, you are correct. Whitgreen provided the voice for Boba. I was pretty sure that it was not Whitgreen, but I could not think of the actual name.
I believe this scream was used in everyone of the Star Wars movies and you can find it in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers during the Battle of Helms Deep.
I have heard that scream in numerous films.

They had no clue Boba was going to be as popular as he is, so they had no reason to give him a dignified death (/epic, embarassing, and painfull accident). I think they said on the commentary that he was originally going to have a fight with Lando.

Lando would've been toast.
As Fairy Blood stated, he was not intended as a popular character, and Lando was a "good guy," ergo, Boba would have been toast.

Hmmm good point. If that had happened I would've cried. Han was lucky enough to beat Boba as it is, even if it is the same actor that's Indiana Jones. You know, I like to pretend Han is a descendent of Indiana Jones.
I think Jones would be a decendant of Han since it was a long time ago...
Speaking of screams of this sort though, last night I watched one of those crappy films you love to just make fun of, and all I did was point out every generic scream there was, which was about 3 every minute. Damn crapy indy horror films.

I always view Star Wars as an "alternate and possible future".
The Wilhelm scream is a classic, and is made in a lot of movies. I once saw an interview on tv when they said that they should have that scream in one more movie and then never use it again. And that movie was Revenge of the Sith. But I dont know for sure if it will be used again or not. It might be.

I agree with that.
I love it when they have over the top screams in films (especially in B movies :D )

nope, they've used it after ROTS.

*laughs* That's funny. At least they didn't have the "Pow! Bam! Kablam!" things when he got hit. ;D

it's "Wilhelm Scream".
:)
Coming to theaters whenever George Lucas dies.
Wilhelm Scream, I am surprised there is actually a name for a scream. I do think GL could've given him a better, more masculine sounding scream. Ofcourse, it sounds like GL didn't like Boba that much.

that would be horrible--fett losing to Lando? ugghhh. that's be horrible
and how can anyone not like fett? maybe he like Han more.....
--Captain Dynamic--
I think the scream is because he thought he was (self censored), might have been anger as well...But he probably was just hanging out in his armor, and decided to play a scream over the external speakers :D

im really tired of this BS that they didnt know fett was going to be as popular- hence the scream, and ultimately the clownish demise. they knew fett was going to be a huge fan favorite...evidence.
a. holiday special intro.
b. the send away figure before ESB opened-you dont see lobot getting the same treatment.
c. the public parade thingy.
anyhow, this is pure and simple, it was shoddy writing.
and i dont want to shout conspiracy, but does it not seem that Lucas has done everything since to kick dirt on fett,
i think that he is insulted that the fans embrace fett rather than the characters he was passionate about.
who knows?
I think the kicking of the dirt on Fett makes him look cooler more worn/weathered :P

I totally agree, Cujo. Maybe they didn't think he would have the fan base that he does, but they HAD to know Fett was going to be popular, if only for the great armor they created for him. And, as shown in the examples you give, they went WAY out of their way to make him more popular. The reason you give for all the 'dirt kicking' sounds as good as any, but who knows, maybe Lukus thought it WAS a good death for Boba at the time.......
