So in keeping with our long tradition of geeky discussions in public places, the DH and I got into a heated debate over the internal configuration of Slave I, over lunch recently. Mostly it involved where the pilot shacks up to sleep when not flying, or, sleeping in the cockpit seat.

I think it's because he's been playing Jango Fett for the last few weeks on Play Station, normally he's a Trek kind of guy.

Anyway, I've seen different renderings of the interior of Slave I, primarily in comics. In one of them, where Fett uses the identity of Sava Brec Madoc, there is a panel of him, inside the sleeping quarters, cast in shadows doing something, I  think taking off his disguise or something.  It was Slave I because that was in other nearby panels.

There's some showing of internal configuration of space in the video game, mostly the cockpit. I always thought the cockpit was a one seater, but at least in this version way back when, it was a two seater.

Then there are descriptions of the holding area in books. And how passengers have delt with movement in the ship.

When I search for schematics I can find plenty of them on weapons, etc., arguably the more interesting points of the craft. Still, I'm curious. Anyone know of internal schematics anywere? Or, know where the sleeping compartment really is: and is it more like one you'd find in a semi cab, or, like in the comic a small, but normal room where an adult can stand and move with head and arm clearance?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Episode 2 guide to Ships is the only one I can think of.

The Incredible Cross Sections, I think for AOTC, shows the inside of Slave I. It has a little bed in the back of the cockpit, sorta like how semis have a little sleeper behind the seats. It's outside the door to the cockpit, after the ladder down. (you walk around the latter to get to it?? I forget) Directly under the cockpit it shows a passanger deck with a few seats. Under that is a bedroom I think. Under that is the holding cell area, with two cells on either side of the ramp that leads outside.

My question is how does he get to the cockpit when he's landed? Cause the ladder would be on the ceiling. So does he walk on the wall, which is now the floor, and then just jump up into the cockpit? I would think the gravity flux thingie would change to make the cockpit appear normal, but Boba in the cockpit when it was landed in AOTC seemed like the gravity was normal. So I don't know.

It is possible that there is another ladder not pictured their.

take it easy baby take it as it comes

Perhaps the ladder moves to the position it is needed to be. Thats my most logical answer at least. My illogical answer is he uses his jet back to boost himself up. XP

The rungs could be small enough you could just walk or crawl up them.

The ladder into the cockpit is a HUGE issue for me.

I've rotated my ships around, and unless the cockpit rotates on landing and in flight, he'd have to crawl down the ladder tube (so the ladder is on a horizontal axis, vs. a vertical axis): which is ludicrous. I thought maybe I was just thinking about it wrong, but in the last book, Travis describes elder Boba being annoyed and uncomfortable having to crawl into the cockpit.

I'm going to have to look for the cross sections AOTC.  I'm really having trouble fitting it all sensibly in my mind.

Even with Cross Sections I was confused too. Cause it does look like he'd have to either crawl "up" the ladder, or walk up depending on how wide across the ladder "hallway" is.

I don't own Cross Sections, btw, I just skimmed it in the store a few years ago.

Ugh I knew a great book that had a very detailed description and detailed picture of Slave 1 showing everything, but I forgot where I saw it. All I can tell you is that theres more in there than you think.
