Any one know much about fan films? I've watched some. I'm wondering what's really involved in making them, etc. I'm concerned that even with the TV series there may not be enough Fett to satifsy me. I read a ton of the fan fic, but I'd like to see more fan films with him in them. (I guess that qualifies me as obsessive or something). Has anyone out there ever done one? We know a woman who's part of a big Trek fan film thing. I think it would be cool to do some on our man Fett. He's so action oriented and so much fun to work with as a character.

I've made fan films before, and right now i'm perfecting the art of rotoscoping (Adding lightsaber effects). Films take alot of planning, some knowledge of the computer, some way to edit them (Movie maker is an easy one). Also you need a good story line to go on, or else your movie is doomed from the start.
The biggest problem i've had during filming is keeping everyone focused, make sure they know their lines, and laughing is kiss of death to a scene. (It infects everyone... and grows)

24 Boba Fett fan films are here, and there are certainly more out there.
I know that some of us here on the boards know about filmmaking, but not in the realm of fan filmmaking.

Well, I work on Tribute music videos for Anime characters. And if you could get a hold of the right music and clips from the movies onto a computer.
But I don't know, I've only got one new one. Windows Movie Maker is your friend in this case if it doesn't start glitching.

Thanks Aaron!
I know nothing about film making. Once, a store I owned was used as a front in a movie scene (Can't remember the name of the Movie - Something Victorian). And this winter I read Mckee's Story. That's it that I know about films. But I know what I enjoy, and I figure if I have enough benjamins, I can always front somebody to do an entertaining film for me. (Not saying I do right now, but who knows). Yes, it sounds crazy, but these are the things middle aged obsessive fan geeks discuss over lunch. (That would be me and the old man)

That sounds totally cool! Do you have some of your films up somewhere to view, or some clips?
This will sound lame, but back when ANH FIRST came out, in the cave man years, I LOVED tie fighters. I had a ton of these die cast metal tie fighters, and I'd enact battle scenes with them swooping out of the sky. To get it right, I'd string them up on fishing line, then use the other figures and toys ( which were completely out of scale) to finish the vignette. I had these 'starlit' pattern sheets, so I'd hang those up to look like 'outerspace' as a backdrop, and take pictures with my instamatic camera. My family thought I'd lost my mind, but at least I wasn't stealing hub caps and the like. Eventually I learned set dressing wasn't my specialty, that I was more a costumer at heart. And a writer. ;)
I imagine real film making and fan filmaking is totally intense and very difficult. There are so many elements you need to manage, so many variables, and so much equipment. Then you bring in actors and you have to contend with DRAMA! How did you get involved in doing the fan films?

What's Tribute music? Is that stuff you create yourself?

I made two SW music videos using clips from the movies, songs, and windows movie maker. Neither are about the Fetts so I never posted about them here. I would like to do a Boba one but there's not enough footage of him for the song I want to do it of. So I'm looking for a new song. But I dunno how long it'll take me to first find a song and then make the video.

Tribute videos are taking clips from a series and adding music to them. It's pretty much what Miba did.

That was wicked cool! It's like making a music video! Miba did one also?
I can't believe how talented folks are on this board!

You could post a link in Fans. That's an anything goes forum. I'd love to see them. If you don't want to post, can you email me the links?
Where do you get footage from?

Starting out I just used pictures and moved to clips and footage is still hard to find, and Movie maker you can download on the internet.

I don't really have the films downloaded or with me because one was a joke that was meant solely between friends, and the other I lost a while ago...
But on the bright side i do have the small teaser I made for our second movie... Let me just find it

I don't think I'll ever get advanced enough to do the lightsaber effect. Rotoscoping, I'll have to look that up.
Thanks Fetter.

The lightsaber effect is pretty easy actually. just leave the middle white, and the outer, a fading blue or green or whatever. But most comic lightsabers are done on the PC I think.

In a sense, it is actually kinda easy to put the lightsaber effect into a movie, although it is painstakingly hard to make it match the stick you're using as a guide. You have to move the mask you created every frame for about... Alot. (like hundreds to thousands)

Are you the guy in the video, Fetter?
Well that makes two of you-Sev
