There are all sorts of costuming groups you can join, right?

I have heard of the 501st and everything, and tried to get involved with their group.
However, they don't like anyone younger than 18, and they don't allow custom mandalorians!

That is pretty lame...

Don't they do stuff to help causes and things like that?  But they wont let a seventeen year old custom mandalorian join?

Oh well, I'm sure they have their reasons.

Anyways, when is anyone going to start up a mandalorian garrison?  With Mandalorians only?

That would be a cool idea. :) We need more groups like that. The 501st seems like a mainly Imperial group, which was one of the reasons I never joined it. Not to mention I haven't got a full costume yet. I don't have any Mandalorian armor either, though.

It costs a lot from what I hear. I'm not sure on exact prices though. I'm not sure how much making your own costume will be. My Jedi cloak cost 20 dollars for my mom to make me, but then we got this really good cloth. And my tunics are so far costing about 15 dollars to make. (I got cloth and thread for making the inner tunic, vest, and belt, I already had the cloth for the outer tunic, which I got for 2.50 at a thrift store) So, that just for cloth. Metal would probably be more expensive. I think we had a costuming thread for making armor in the creative thread a long time ago.

A Helmet that has one of those speaking thingys must cost a few hundred dollars alone....

Yeah, my mandalorian helmet cost about 80 on ebay, i totally could have gotten it for less.

I painted it myself to make it custom, it's gold and black and looks pretty radical.

It's still got the dent where Boba Fett has his on his helmet though...

it's made of hard plastic, but you cant tell unless you hit it with your knuckles.

I still don't have the armor I want and stuff but I have seen lots of people make their own out of sheet metal.

I didn't realize the 501st had the mics inside their helmets that actually make the voice... that is so awesome... I wish I was a rich adult...

they wouldnt even let me join their group... how lame

I have a Vader helmet that lets me speak in Vader voice. Though it comes out as sort of a high-pitched Vader voice... It sounds pretty funny actually. But that was the kiddie helmet they sold in Wal-Mart, I got it for aout 25 dollars. So I guess that doesn't count as being an authentically voiced mic-helmet. ;)

But that is cool!! I didn't know the 501st had helmets that make their voices sound like real Stormtroopers. I've never met one before.

I think the whole group thing is a good idea...although i've never seen one. I'll keep my eyes open. Yeah, my bro has that Wal-Mart DV mask/voice changer.   It is OK i guess, i have such a low voice that it sounds like static, not speech...lol

When I tried it in the store it most certainly didn't seem very good....

I built all of mine for a hundred or under, including buying a helmet and repainting it. I don't have a jetpack though. You can build it on the real cheap if you shop around correctly and look for cheap alternatives.

However, I recommend putting the armor aside like I have and buy an accordion instead. I love it.

I like that waist sash, with the Mandalorian symbol on it, hanging off of your belt.  Did you make that yourself, or pick it up somewhere?

Kara-Chan and I decided to make ours (for Halloween) out of cardboard or something and we'll probably just buy actual buckets at Wal-Mart. Doubt that anybody would let us join with kind of get up, but, hey, its all we can afford. We are poor teenagers.

I'll keep an eye out for you though, Mandalorian.

Lol, I thought that was just a spur of the moment idea over the phone? Cardboard probably won't hold up too well, considering what klutzes we are...

No, I was serious about it, Sensei-Sama. My mom could probably help us, though. She's actually kind of good with this kind of stuff.  We could probably make our own capes, we'd just need to buy the buckets, paint, and get cardboard from a grocery stoore. All and all, it'll just cost us around $20- $25 bucks.

Made it. Real basic and crappy too. Old green cloth spray painted with a cut-out of cardboard I did.

Um, I have gone to a few websites!---great ideas for Fett costumes there.  From the sites, I know there is a type of therma-form plastic that is great to use for armor costumes instead of metal.  This plastic  would be easier to work with at home and with no special tools.  I too have a Fett helmet I bought on eBay--it does need work, but I'm glad to have it!!  I got it for just under $20!!!   Making my own Mandalorian costume is a goal for me at the moment.  I thought about keeping the Fett color scheme from ROTS, but of course, I'd have to customize it a little---now to just get my hands on some materials.

I also have a Jedi costume--not totally complete, but it gives enough of the illusion of a Jedi.  I intend to work on it more as well.

I would soooo be intrested in a Mandalorian Garrison!  That would be cool!  Kinda be a break off from 501st

Nice looking costume Eric!!
