Other than being a copycat, what do you think makes Jodo Kast a second rate hunter? Surely if there was no Boba Fett he may have found the niche Fett has. What do you think?

I think he just wasn't as skilled a bounty hunter as Boba Fett was. I think if Fett were out of the picture he still may have not been a great bounty hunter at first, but may have gotten better and gained a better reputation...

I've never read about Jodo Kast, actually, I've only heard what others say about him. Going on that, I'd say that if the only way he can "be a good hunter" is to impersonate someone and use their reputation, he's not all that skilled a hunter to begin with.

I think that he WAS pretty good. He did, after all, come fairly close to tieing with
Boba 'da Fett (I have been wanting to say that all day). Durge could not even do that when Fett was twelve. I still despise him almost as much as the clowns. That gives me an idea for a new signiture!.

I think the fact that he tried the easy way, stealing some one else's rep, shows a character flaw that would run through everything Kast did:  he's got the drive thru mentality - I don't want to stand in line, give it to me to go.  Stands to reason, everything he'd do would be affected by that thought process, meaning, you'd get a cut rate hunter.

Then again, the idea to impersonate a very dangerous but very impressive bounty hunter may have been a stroke of genius.  Madness, yes, but genius all the same.  (Don't shoot me.)

I aggree with Ursula.  He sorta signed his own fate by stealing Boba's name and perading around as him.  If Jodo would have tried harder and strived to be a different entity then Fett, I think he possibly could have gotten som serious rep. Although I still believe that he'd be second to Boba. In my eyes, Jodo had no real ambition, except living off the fame of others and using it as an easy credit scheme.

i read a fan fic about Jodo recently and it was brill(Kast Aside by Melinda McMahon) . but kast  seems to strike me as a man with serious identiy crisis, for example he may be a weak character, but in trying to be Boba fett he is trying to be stronger in his own mind. That's my take on it, as well as that he does it to reap rewards of Boba's rep.

Jodo Kast was an idiot. How stupid do you have to be to impersonate the single most infamous man in known space just to borrow his reputation? He didn't have what it took to do things right on his own, so he stole from Boba Fett to compensate for what he lacked. The mere fact that he did what he did proves that he was not good enough.

If Fett hadn't killed him? Bossk would have. Kast was blundering and overconfident: a deadly mistake to make as a Bounty Hunter.

I don't mind him, he was tryin to make an image for himself by using someone elses, if he'd lived longer maybe he would have tried for his own image and dropped the whole pretend i'm fett so i can get the big bucks easy bit. Over all, he kinda reminds me of Bossk, instead of tryin to kill him he tried to be him though, it's that second best mentality.

He was second rate because he was killed, you can't be good if you get killed, plus he was just riding Fett's reputation, that's how he got known.

Kenobi, D'harhan, Cassus Fett, Jango, Mereel, my dog, most of the Mandaorians, Palpatine, Maul, Gallandro, Chewbacca, and many others all were killed, and they were all good. Boba Fett nearly died in the Sarlacc.

Yea, but still he escaped, that's what makes him better than all of them. Plus u can't ride someone elses reputation and be the best, you have to make your own.

Even Georege Lucas couldn't kill Boba.

Hahahaha!  Now that's good!

But as far as Kast is concerned, I also haven't read any of the stories about him, but somebody who tries to ride the coattails of somebody that dangerous is either brilliant (and has a short lifetime) or stupid (and has a short lifetime).  It'd be like someone claiming to be Carlos the Jackal.  How long do you think he'd live?  Long enough to experience a lot of pain, I'd bet.

He was shot with a posion dart and Boba left three viles next to him, one contained the antidote. Boba rigged Kast's jetpack to self destruct, and told Kast that if he was Boba, then he would surive. He isnt, and he never. The jetpack exploded and collapsed the roof of the temple they were in(i belive they where on Nal Hutta in an abndond Hutt temple/clan house).

That happend in Twin Engines of destruciton, which(in my opinion) has the finest example of Boba's character. If any one wants one i have a list of sights where you might be able to get one

I personaly think that the "Death, Lies and Treachery" trilogy showed the greatest example of his character, but I do think that anyone who does not own "Twin Engines of Destruction", should buy it.

I don't have Twin Engines of Destruction. I saw it once a long time ago but I passed it up (being stupid and not a Fett Fan at the time) and I've never seen it again. :( Of course I haven't tried amazon or ebay yet.

Death Lies and Treachery...very nice graphic novel.
Though the author makes a very grievous error that permeates the entire comic...

Why not? Because they're... whatever that word is where they're default is male and then they change into a female long enough to have a kid and then change back? But there are a lot of mutated hutts who are either one or the other. Like Gardulla is a girl, a sorta birth defect type thing. So technically if a hutt was defected into being entirely male and another was defected into being entirely female, they could get married.

Have you read the Han Solo trilogy? (the newer one)
The Hutts apparently aren't very forthcoming about their gender changes...it's very secretive.  Apparently Jiliac the Hutt (Jabba's uncle) just decided it was time to have a child, and changed his gender, however they do it.  They don't explain exactly...it's just speculation.  Mutations....eh, it's got to be something more...but I don't know any more than you.
What is Gardulla from?  Is that the name of the female Hutt in DLAT?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Gardulla was the very nasty-looking specimin that owned Anakin at one point.

Yep.
I just googled it.
The reference I found says that all Hutts are hermaphrodites, and apparently they can choose which gender they want.  Still leaves the process of reproduction ambiguous...and I'd rather not go into that.  :)

What kind of disk drive were you playing it on?  If there was only one disk, it was probably a DVD, which would explain why you couldn't see it if you tried to put it in a CD drive.

Well, Jodo Kast only appears in Twin engines of destruction, unfortunately out of print but u can still get it in one of the collection issues. Anyway, after beating Kast Boba poisons him and rigs his jet pack to explode leaving to vials beside kast. One is the antidote and i forget what the other one is. Basically Jodo dies before he can reach either vial. I believe the comic section of this site has it. I'll have to make sure.
