Yeah well if we'd been "COnscientious Objectors" against the war until some "Sandal wearing Sumo Wrestlers" blew up our naval bases maybe we'd have had the resources for a stronger beach

and besides it was the Canadians which ahd the weakest BEACH (Not beaches)

And 1 more thing.....

How come America spends so much on military each year and yet it's the British SAS thats the best in the world

And if you need proof of this why don't you look up how many Allied troops English troops have fired on in comparison to American troops....

I mean in the first 4 weeks of Iraq of the 5 or 6 British troops dead at that point
like 4 of them were killed by American Friendly fire.....

Nice one guys.... ;)

Ah, D-Day.... Well I dont care what people think of me personally (because of my frenchitude :P).

Last weekend I was in Normandy for the commemorations. There are many local celebrations that have started then and it was a really good weather over there, so it was a good time. I checked out 3 museums, battlefields, Utah Beach, etc. I also met three US soldiers who were there for the ceremonies at Utah Beach as well; we had some chitchat, nothing much but I paid my respects to them.

Here are the pictures that I took...

And this is what Utah Beach looks like nowadays......

Btw, it wasn't the invasion of France: the northern half of the country was already occupied by the Axis troops. Secondly: each and every war is a waste of human lives, soldiers and military first. At the end of my commemorating trip I felt empathy for all of the men and women who died for this land or to save us Frenchies, for a cause that wasn't theirs.

British SAS? I don't think so. You wanna know who the best in the world are? The United States Marine Corp, hoo-rah. And I refuse to hear a single word against it, the Marines are going to be my life, if they aren't already.

Whoah.  You definitely did not just make fun of America and our military.  You know what?  Your a fag.  Brits are fags.
We were not conscientious objectors, those are people who join the war to protest against it, and we definitley didn't do that.  We didn't wish to get involved with a war that didn't concern us.  Then, we got attacked and we kicked the Japanese's ass back to Tokyo.  You morons never wouldn't have won if it wasn't for us.
How the hell do you know the SAS is better?  So you read in a news report (which are all liberal shit and completely untrustworthy) that Americans killed four British troops by friendly fire?  What the hell were they doing in the soldiers line of fire?  The're the stupid ones.
The US Marines and the SAS have never gone against each other, so where is the real proof that the SAS is better?  You just think that because you live in Britain? That moronic country that bans all firearms?  That's a real indicator of intelligence.  Bastard.
Vietnam was lost because of our idiotic government that didn't let our soldiers do the job right.  (same as what they're doing in Iraq)  We would have won the war in two weeks if we took the offensive and swarmed the entire pitiful country.  We won every conflict we had there, and would have won the war if we were allowed to.  Then we just got pulled out.  That's not losing.  I don't know what it is, but it's not losing.

A word to the wise: Don't screw with America around Yautja. It won't be long at all until we're going to be killing and possibly dying for our country, so don't give it a bad name. We hate what Liberals have done to our nation, damn cowards, and we intend to give them everything they hate - a war. Our country and its honor is almost everything to us, remember that.

Ok, I respect that position. In fact I think that everything's cool when each of us openly state our position regarding international affairs, if we're nationally/patriotically biased so as not to get into verbal conflict with other users.

This is just a forum, and I dont find it very constructive for both parts if people keep fighting over opinion and ideals. Most of us aren't even old enough to measure the full consequences of a mere phrase like "France sucks/the French are a bunch of weak cowards" (I'm taking this example cause I'm the only one possibly offended by it, which I am not).

I have to admit that I disagree with a lot of what was said earlier in this topic, but I'm not reacting to any of it. I admit that I'm pro-military (wanting to be part of it myself), but even if I support the US and all democracies, I try to stay as neutral as possible in my views on wars. We're not talking about politics or economics, this is a debate about people, human lives are at stake when you judge a nation/country. So each conflict, each battle that is discussed is influenced by specific local conditions, it would be pointless to try and figure out who's right or wrong on this forum.

This post settles my position and I have no justifications or approvals to give.

I believe today is Daniel Logan's birthday. He's turning 19.

As for the 6/6/6 thing.... I've been sorta on edge all day, and this is actually the first time today I've written out the date.

Had no idea this was some war holiday thingie, I never paid attention to that.

As for The Omen, I'm not seeing it.

I might, it looks ok. As for the day, I found it kind of fun. I tell annoying kids that the lord satan is going to devour their souls, and sing the song of death from his five mouths across the Earth, laying waste to all they care about. Sometimes "Leave me alone." just isn't incentive enough.

I had to do a report on Operation Overlord, or D-day, for school and here's a rough summary:
The Big Three, Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt met to discuss military stargegy and post-WWII plans. Against, Chruchill's better judgement, the three agreed to take France back from German occupants. After setbacks, Eisenhower decided to set the invasion some time in early June. The night before the water-borne invasion, 882 Allied planes dropped bombs on the Nazi defenders and placed thousands of paratroopers behind the German lines. French resistance forces caught wind of the invasion and aided the troops in behind-the-line sabotage and combat. The United States First Army moved supplies inland. On the day of the invasion, there were at least 3,000 landing craft, 2,500 other ships and 500 naval escort and bombardment ships. The 882 Allied planes the night before were only a fraction of the 13,000 planes that would support D-day.  The troop number was somewhere around 176,000. Hitler was taken by surprise, the main German force was expecting the Allies to attack at the Straight of Dover, mainly at Calais. It, the invasion, was commanded by Dwight D. Eisenhower, a four-star general. The Americans were at Utah and Omaha, Canadians were at Juno, and the British were at Sword and Gold.

That's all that I can remember off the top of my head. Please, fill in the gaps. and, I'm not too sure of the numbers.
