Maybe it’s from a wookie slave who escaped the empire, and the reason it’s so light is because it’s owner had disease.
But wookies don’t Really “braid” their hair, they let it grow and fall naturally.
Maybe it’s the braid of a Padawan that he caught after order 66.
What do you think?

And no, I do not have disney plus. I have to have everything spoiled for me. :(

Very good question Bobafett2020.
From what I have read, it is not clear. The origin of the braid can be from a Padawan or a Wookiee, as you said. Personally, I think it's from a Wookiee, because it’s too long to be from a Jedi... And Boba is a bounty hunter, so I don't think he had a mission where his target was a Padawan. But anyway, maybe he could have killed one for other reasons...
I don't know, just brainstorming. What do you think?

well, maybe it’s from another rival bounty hunter, if we’re trying to consider all the possibilities.

Hmmm... But what kind of bounty hunter could have a braid? Maybe a Wookiee, but the only one I know is black Krrsantan, and his hair is darker than the braid that Boba has.

Some answers in Boba Fett history:
"7. Wookiee Scalps" -- Description of Boba Fett's costume in Bantha Tracks #5 (1979)
"I got into the costume and I put the helmet on. There were lots of little gadgets and knee pads and the boots had two little jets on the toes. I thought, 'This looks rather good!' There was a jet pack, too. I found what I thought was my hair so I put it on underneath the helmet, hanging down. When I came out to show George Lucas, he said, 'What's that funny thing sticking out of your helmet?' I said, 'Isn't it the character's hair?' 'No,' said George, 'it's a Wookiee scalp -- it's supposed to be tied to your belt!'" -- Jeremy Bulloch, as quoted in Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine #21 (Winter 1994)
"Braided Wookiee scalps hang over his right shoulder." -- Kenner POTF2 Boba Fett figure cardback (1995)
"Braided wookiee pelt trophies." -- Sideshow Premium Boba Fett figure (2007) and Sideshow Bronze Boba Fett statue (2010)

Hmm, maybe we’ll learn which wookie it came from in some new books and manga, like bounty hunters #3

all this info is pretty interesting. Maybe if someone were to google his wookie rivals, we would learn of someone other than black krrsatan.

Sometimes it's the mystery that makes it more interesting. The braids are different colors, suggesting different victims. They also change between ESB and ROTJ.

we may be able to make guesses as to where they came from based on images in the costume section of this website.

I just looked at the empire variant and it looks like there are two braids, a darker one and a lighter one.

maybe the darker one comes from a wookie (e.g. black krrsatan) and the lighter one came from a Padawan. Maybe not. What do you think, guys?

I think that both of them come from Wookies.

Here's a page in the costume section just comparing the Wookiee scalps:

Just updated to include ESB and a work in progress, but isolates the differences between ESB and ROTJ.

I have a feeling about promo one.

Does anyone think that the scalp could have come from an escaped slave from the aftermath of the battle of kasyyyk?

Either way, it's an awesome way to show the adventures and mishaps Boba has gone through. I almost wish Boba had more scraps or miscellaneous details in his armor to show what he's collected over the years other than the multiple scratches and dents lol

Why not take the light saber if it was a Padawan it looks a lot better and is a weapon.

Its a stronger flame thrower with shorter range, in a way. He could tape it to his wrist.

it would get in the way of the flamethrowers, but if he did kill a Padawan, he would either do what was In Your theory, or give the saber the empire. After thinking about this, Someone should start a board about this topic.

i do not know but i do have a book somewhere that says it is a wookie hair

We need to dig deeper into this...

Gonna try and revive this post:
So far, we have decided that it is most likely wookie hair. My opinion is that it is from one of the wookie slaves that the empire took, most likely one who was trying to form a resistance. Your thoughts on this theory?
